We are the Big Five Coffee Company®. We strive to pioneer a movement that reclaims Zimbabwe's coffee heritage and preserves our wildlife.

Our coffee bean is the star of the show!  Homegrown, in the gorgeous mountainous Nyanga region in the Eastern Highlands of Zimbabwe, we produce the finest Arabica coffee at high altitudes of between 1200 and 1800m. As a result of our cooler temperatures, our coffee trees undergo a longer maturation process which imbues our coffee bean with more complex sugars, yielding deeper and more compelling flavours. Better drainage at high elevations also reduces the amount of water in the fruit resulting in a further concentration of our big, bold and robust flavours.

We help our farmers get the resources, skills, knowledge, and voice they need to reach their full agricultural potential.

As much as we are invested in organic farming practices, we are equally as invested in improving the economy of local farmers in the Mount Nyangani area. In addition to training on climate-efficient farm management, our farmers get the opportunity to work closely with agronomists to develop demonstration plots – fields where they practice the agricultural techniques they learn about.

We currently support three major sanctuaries in the country. We have helped rehabilitate over 150 wild animals and faciliated the employment of over 50 game warderns and anti-poaching officers.

Our founders are keen coffee lovers and wildlife veterinary surgeons with 35 years of combined experience focusing on the welfare of wildlife and conservation of wildlife habitats.

Charles and Roselynn have been providing expert veterinary treatment and rehabilitation to sick or injured wild animals on a pro bono basis for the past 15 years, especially where these animals have suffered at the hand of man. When they are not busy in the field, you are likely to find them dancing under the stars or tucked away in a good book on some random, tropical island.

When coffee culture meets community.

We help our coffee producers get the resources, skills, knowledge, and voice they need to reach their full agricultural potential. Our farmers get the opportunity to work closely with agronomists to develop demonstration plots — fields where they practice the agricultural techniques they learn about. Help us achieve our goal of educating 1000 aspiring young farmers by mid 2023 by purchasing one (or two, or three) bags of our specially picked and roasted Mbizi coffee in support of the future generation of agricultural pioneers and innnovators!
BREWING ESSENTIALS 101

Our job wouldn't be quite done if we didn't let you in on how to prepare the perfect brew!

STEP 01
Scoop 1.5 tablespoons of our coffee for a 350ml plunger and 3 tablespoons for a 1L plunger into a French Press pot.
Start a timer. Half fill the pot with with boiled water ensuring there are no dry spots.
STEP 02
STEP 03
At one minute, stir the brew with a spoon, leaving about 2.5cm of space at the top.
Place the plunger unit on top of the pot and let the coffee brew for approximately three minutes.

STEP 05
At three minutes, hold the pot handle firmly and lower the plunger into the pot. Pour the coffee into the cup and enjoy!
